2. Movement

Selecting the movement is the first step in designing the watch since this sets most of the constraints for the design.

Doing some research, I discovered that most of the luxury Swiss watch brands get their movements from ETA which is the same company that own the Swatch brand. ETA maintains a supply shortage, so ETA movements are very expensive and harder to come by. Miyota, a Japanese brand, on the other hand, makes their movements more readily available and is 1/3 the price of the ETA movements.

So, for my project, I am planning to use one of these two Miyota movements:

Both are good options aesthetically to allow a window in the dial to showcase the movement.

The main draw of the 82D7 is that I could put only a minute hand in the center and use one of the complications to have an off-center 24-hr hand which will make the timepiece even more interesting.
